Flash Catalyst

Adobe released CS5 about three months ago and everyone was going crazy about the content aware fill feature for Photoshop (view here, pretty amazing stuff). During this time, either being distracted by this new feature or school, I was unaware of this new Flash program call Flash Catalyst. This program is bridging the gap between the designer and the developer.  It allows you design in illustrator or Photoshop and then manipulate it in Catalyst. You can create buttons, navigation bars, scroll bars, data list and link multiple pages and you can do all this with no code. Exciting Stuff.

Burton Design

I just received the new Burton Catalog in the mail and the design is on point. The amount of work that went into to creating this just proves how passionate Burton is about snowboarding and the products they make. There are over two hundred neatly organized pages of snowboards, bindings, cloths and accessories. And to top off the information graphics, there is some great narrative photography at play. Burton definitely has figured out to keep their catalogs from going into the trash. Shelving it.

Also check out Burton’s new website, it has nice new clean layout.

So I realized today after looking at the last three images I posted, that I subconsciously branded this road trip. So I took it to the next level and made a poster. Expect more of these.

Here is the beginning of the Road Trip. We started from Chicago and traveled through Iowa, Nebraska and Colorado and now were in New Mexico hanging out for a couple of days. Next were on our way up north to camp and travel through some other states. I’ll be making these mini design series along the way.  Any way, Enjoy

Here is the third and final poster of this series. Again I was playing around with graphic language, and using the idea of breaking visual planes. For my next prints I want to start working with multiple layers to create different effects. Hopefully that goes well. Enjoy

Here are some screenprints Ive have been creating over the couple of weeks. Th first one is an edition of 15 and the second is and edition of 10. I enjoyed creating these prints with accessible figures. The triangles are used to create depth and then the circle is introduced to break that visual plane. The graphic circles on the bottom, are actually letters from the braille alphabet, which can create some really interesting visual language. Enjoy.

Design Show

{Design Show}

This is not my usual style of blog post but the other way I was creating each post is to time consuming. So above is just some quick screen shots of a small portfolio I put together for the end of the year design show.
